Poverty

Just look at the difference! - God forbid what if it would've been the opposite? May Allah (s.w.t) forgive us all.
One of the most widespread and dangerous problems faced by humanity is that of poverty, hunger and starvation. There is nothing more horrifying than the realization that as we live our happy lives here, millions of our fellow human beings live in hunger and face starvation. The majority of the world population today lives in poverty. It is clear that the world system we have set up today is unjust and inhumane.

One of the great reforms that the Prophet Muhammad (Peace & blessings of Allah be upon him) brought was the rights and treatment of the poor. Prior to the advent of Islam, the pagan Arabs used to disregard the poor, they would look down on them, and could care less about them; the poor people were basically an insignificant portion of society that did not matter.  However so, with the Prophet Muhammad (Peace & blessings of Allah be upon him) that all changed, the Muslims were now obliged to look after the poor, and were required to spend of their wealth to help the poor out. For instance the Prophet Muhammad (Peace & blessings of Allah be upon him) taught the following:

[Sahih Al-Bukhari]
Volume 7, Book 64, Number 264
Narrated Abu Huraira:
Allah's Apostle said, "Allah said, 'O son of Adam! Spend, and I shall spend on you."

Clarification:
The basic meaning of this hadith was that Muslims should spend from their wealth in giving charity to the poor. This teaching of the Prophet, to spend and to give in charity, was a very common message that he would often give as we read in another hadith:

[Sahih Al-Bukhari]
Volume 2, Book 24, Number 492
Narrated Haritha bin Wahab:
I heard the Prophet saying, "O people! Give in charity as a time will come upon you when a person will wander about with his object of charity and will not find anybody to accept it, and one (who will be requested to take it) will say, "If you had brought it yesterday, would have taken it, but to-day I am not in need of it."

Clarification:
As I wrote earlier, the poor people of the time were completely disregarded, especially by the elite of society, those at the top of society, the very wealthy, did not care at all for the poor people, and they would look down on them. So what did the Prophet Muhammad (Peace & blessings be upon him) say in this regard? The Prophet Muhammad (Peace & blessings of Allah be upon him) specifically commanded the wealthy people to give in charity and gave a very dire warning to them if they didn’t do so:

[Sahih Al-Bukhari]
Volume 2, Book 24, Number 486
Narrated Abu Huraira:

Allah's Apostle said, "Whoever is made wealthy by Allah and does not pay the Zakat of his wealth, then on the Day of Resurrection his wealth will be made like a bald-headed poisonous male snake with two black spots over the eyes. The snake will encircle his neck and bite his cheeks and say, 'I am your wealth, I am your treasure.' " Then the Prophet recited the holy verses:-- 'Let not those who withhold . . .' (to the end of the verse). (3.180).

Clarification:
So the above hadith was a warning to the wealthy people of the consequences of not looking after the poor and giving in charity. The Prophet Muhammad (Peace & blessings of Allah be upon him) also taught the following about wealthy people giving in charity:

[Sahih Al-Bukhari]
Volume 2, Book 24, Number 507
Narrated Abu Huraira:
The Prophet (p.b.u.h) said, "The best charity is that which is practiced by a wealthy person. And start giving first to your dependents."

'Help the one's who are poor be merciful towards one another'

In a longer version of this hadith we read:

[Sahih Al-Bukhari]
 Volume 2, Book 24, Number 508:
Narrated Hakim bin Hizam:
The Prophet said, "The upper hand is better than the lower hand (i.e. he who gives in charity is better than him who takes it). One should start giving first to his dependents. And the best object of charity is that which is given by a wealthy person (from the money which is left after his expenses). And whoever abstains from asking others for some financial help, Allah will give him and save him from asking others, Allah will make him self-sufficient."

Clarification:
So the Prophet Muhammad (Peace & blessings of Allah be upon him) taught the best of charity is the one given by those who are rich, the wealthy people. The reason for this was because the prophet wanted to give a very strong incentive for the rich to start giving in charity, something they didn’t really care about before. As well as this it was also to show the great reform of society, that now, the rich of society are giving for the poor, unlike before, when they could care less about the poor precisely because they were rich.
We also read in another hadith, what the Prophet Muhammad (Peace & blessings of Allah be upon him) would do when he encountered poor people:

[Sahih Al-Bukhari]
Volume 2, Book 24, Number 512:
Narrated Abu Burda bin Abu Musa:
That his father said, "Whenever a beggar came to Allah's Apostle or he was asked for something, he used to say (to his companions), "Help and recommend him and you will receive the reward for it; and Allah will bring about what He will through His Prophet's tongue."

Clarification:
So whenever the Prophet Muhammad (Peace & blessings of Allah be upon him) would encounter with a poor person, he would tell his companions to help and give for that person, and they would be rewarded for it. The prophet would not simply ignore them and let them be, as would have been the custom of the time, rather he gave advise and teaching to his companions to help these people.

And in another hadith we also read the following;

[Sahih Al-Bukhari]
Volume 7, Book 64, Number 265
Narrated Abu Huraira:
The Prophet said, "The one who looks after a widow or a poor person is like a Mujahid (warrior) who fights for Allah's Cause, or like him who performs prayers all the night and fasts all the day."

Clarification:
So the Prophet Muhammad (Peace & blessings of Allah be upon him) compared the one who looks after a poor person, with the one who fights in the cause of Allah (s.w.t) As everyone knows, the one who fights in the cause of Allah has a very high place and status in Islam, it is one of the highest honors one can have, yet the Prophet Muhammad (Peace & blessings of Allah be upon him) explicitly states that a person who looks after a poor person is like the one who fights in the cause of Allah (s.w.t) Thus one can see the very high value and importance Islam attaches to helping and looking after the poor. This teaching is a major incentive and motivation for the people to take care, and to look after the poor.

Do We Really Love Prophet Muhammad (May Peace & Blessings be upon him)?

My Muslim brothers we should take that path upon which Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (May Peace & Blessing be upon him) went down. After Allah (s.w.t), The most favors done for us were by our beloved Prophet Muhammad (May Peace & Blessing be upon him). It is in his nature to be like this. Gather all the cries of the Ummah (people) and still the cries of our Prophet (May Peace & Blessing be upon him) will exceed them. Gather all their moments of worry and concern and still the worry and concern of our Prophet (May Peace & Blessing be upon him) will exceed them. No other Prophet’s chest ever filled with worry and concern like the way Prophet Muhammad’s (May Peace & Blessing be upon him) chest overflowed with worry and concern. He (May Peace & Blessing be upon him) trembled and shivered with worry and concern. Prophet (May Peace & Blessing be upon him) cried so much that the Angel Gabriel (A.S) would have to descend and Allah (s.w.t) would say: “O My Messenger Do Not Cry Much, Do Not Cry too Much”

[Narration from Sahih Al-Muslim]
During the nights in Medina only if we could go to the past and see those nights how much Our Prophet (May Peace & Blessing be upon him) used to cry and worry. The way He (May Peace & Blessing be upon him) tied rocks around his stomach to reduce hunger. If only we could see this, The one who was offered high quality clothing but he preferred to wear patched up clothing the one who was offered food of Jannah (heavens), but he (May Peace & Blessing be upon him) still preferred to go on three days without a bite of food. We can’t even stand up due to the effects of Fasting (Ramadan). We can’t even stand for long while fasting yet we don’t realize what our beloved Prophet (May Peace & Blessing be upon him) went through when he (May Peace & Blessing be upon him) didn’t eat for three odd days. The one who was asked by Allah (s.w.t) to ‘Just say Yes! Just say Yes! And I will Lay out a Tablecloth full of food from Jannah (heavens) You just say Yes at least once! And I will make the mountain of Uhud into gold for you! Just point me out once And I will make the Arabian mountains into gold, silver, emeralds and sapphire and present them to you, sacrifice them to you, And still in the afterlife it will not reduce anything from you, it will not reduce anything from you” and after this Our Beloved Prophet (May Peace & Blessing be upon him) said: ‘No No! No No! No No! I accept this hunger but when will my Ummat (people) be well off? I accept living in a tent but when will my ummah be living in palaces? I accept travelling on a donkey but when will my ummah travel luxuriously? I accept eating plain food but when will my ummah eat complete dinners? And today I appreciate what I got for three odd days He (May Peace & Blessing be upon him) didn’t eat food. Signs were given to ask! But no. One day passed , second day passed third day passed it’s the fourth day when Prophet (May Peace & Blessing be upon him)  went to a field and picked up Expired dates and ate them, Abdullah Ibn Umar was with him, Prophet (May Peace & Blessing be upon him)  said “ Abdullah aren’t you eating?” he replied “O Messenger of Allah, I am not hungry”. Prophet (May Peace & Blessing be upon him)  said: “Abdullah I am hungry Today is the fourth day I haven’t eaten anything”.

My Muslim brothers this is The Prophet (May Peace & Blessing be upon him) whose Sunnah your slaughtering (destroying) today, shaving off your beard and going to pray Jummah (the friday prayer)? Coming to pray Jummah with an exposed head (without a cap)? Prophet (May Peace & Blessing be upon him) never ever go on a day in his life with exposing his head. Only in Ihraam (during Hajj and Umrah) His head was exposed and lead prayer in this manner. So what harm could possibly come to you if you put a cap on your head? What will happen to you if you raise your trousers above your ankles? Your trousers are dragging below your feet if you just raise them up a little it will bring coolness to the eyes of Our Prophet (May Peace & Blessing be upon him).

You have welcomed the oppressors and made your tongue impure (lying). How much are you applying the Sunnah of The Beloved Prophet (May Peace & Blessing be upon him) into your life? You can at least wear the clothing as prescribed by Prophet (May Peace & Blessing be upon him) but instead you wear Western clothing and go to Jummah (Friday prayer) like that. Didn’t your Prophet (May Peace & Blessing be upon him) have any clothing for you to emulate? Didn’t He (May Peace & Blessing be upon him) have any culture which we can emulate? Are you attacking his sunnah and looking for faults? If you are looking for faults then look for faults in the western culture. Have you realized who you have attacked? The one who already sacrificed everything for his ummah (people).

Upon one occasion it is said that once a man was going to murder his mother as his lover told him that if he brings his mother’s heart to her then she will marry him. The delinquent cut open his mother and removed her heart and as he was going back he tripped over and his mother’s heart spoke out with love saying “Oh My Son Are You Okay?” The voice came from the heart saying “Oh my son I hope you’re okay!” and Our Prophet (May Peace & Blessing be upon him)  was more loving than these mothers even. What have we done on the other hand? We’ve put his sunnah to the sword. If you follow the sunnah clothing what will happen? Will your status within society decline?. My Muslim brothers at least recognize who are your friends and who are you enemies, at least identify those who are trustworthy and those who are unjust.

On the plane of resurrection the hell fire will be screaming roaring. Big Angels will fall onto the ground. Humans, Jinns, Awliya, Mukarabeen, Mujjahideen, Shuhada, Ulema , Maffusireen Bang! They are all falling to the ground and according to hadith it is stated that “A man will have Amaal (deeds) equivalent to 70 Prophets”, But even he will say I am not safe today. All the Prophets will say “Nafsee Nafsee”, they will worry about themselves. Hazrat Adam (A.S) will say “Nafsee Nafsee” (“O Allah Today, I need Saving I am not interceding for anyone else”), Hazrat Ibrahim (A.S) will say “O Allah for the sake of our friendship save me today I am not interceding for anyone else”, Hazrat Musa (A.S) will say “O Allah, save me today I am not interceding for anyone else”, and the same will be the case with all others Hazrat Yusuf, Yaqoob, Ishaq, Ibrahim , Ismail (A.S) they all will say: “O Allah Nafsee Nafsee! Save us! We aren’t interceding for anyone”, Hazrat Isa (A.S) will say “O Allah, O Allah, O Allah, I’m not even interceding my mother Mariyam just save me! Just save me!”. Mothers, fathers, wives, children all will say “O Allah save me” throughout the whole plane of resurrection there will be only ‘One Noble Man’  and we all know who that man will be He’s Prophet Muhammad (May Peace & Blessing be upon him) whose arms are open and hands are raised and he isn’t saying ‘Nafsee Nafsee’ but instead He (May Peace & Blessing be upon him) is saying: “O Allah My Ummah (people), O Allah My Ummah (people), O Allah My Ummah (people)”.

We should at least have some sense of realization. Have we become lower than dogs? Feed a dog once and he has full trust for you from that day onwards. Is there anyone amongst us who can return the favors for Prophet (May Peace & Blessing be upon him)?. Only Allah (s.w.t) can reward him we haven’t got anything to offer him (May Peace & Blessing be upon him) we have hurt his feelings, we have put his soul in unrest. So my brothers repent today and make the intention to adopt the Holy, pure, blessed, complete, and bright way of life of Hazrat Muhammad (May Peace & Blessing be upon him).

When our coffins are carried we’ll be buried and the people will return and then it will be as though we didn’t ever exist.

Benefits of Sleeping According to Sunnah in the Light of Medical Science

Today science tells us the best sleeping position, medical science tells us that its healthy to sleep on your back or on your right side which we (muslims) were told 1600 years ago by our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings upon him)

  • Sleeping on the right side does not let the weight of stomach and intestine to suppress heart, hence blood circulation is not affected.

  • By sleeping on the right side, the heart remains on the topside, one will not have a deep sleep. A little noise can prepare someone to face any contingency. It also develops the habit of early morning rise.

  • Sitting and rubbing the eyes for a while after awaking adjusts the heartbeat according to the new posture, hence it has positive impact on the heart.

  • Napping after lunch helps to prevent burden on coronary artery. According to cardiologists, having a nap after lunch produces positive effects on heart.

Imam Shafi states that there are 4 types of sleep:

  • To lie on the back-this is the sleep of the Prophet's .
  • To sleep on the right side-this is the sleep of the Worshippers. (us!)
  • To sleep on the left side-this is the sleep of the rulers.
  • To sleep on the stomach-this is the sleep of the devil.

[Related by Al-Bukhari, Muslim, Al-Tirmidhi and Abu Dawood.]
Hazrat Aishah
reports:
“The mattress the Prophet used to sleep on was made of hide, stuffed with fiber.”

Benefits of Avoiding Soft Bed in the Light of Medical Science:
Backache is often caused by regular use of soft bed as the muscles of back are loosened. The pain gets aggravated on continuous use. Extremely soft and comfortable bed can lead to the inflammation of ureters, hence kidney diseases can be prevented by not using soft bed. The use of soft bed can reduce the gap between the vertebrae. The experts don’t recommend it. Infants using soft bed can suffer from deformity of bones, which may lead to disability.

It is Sunnah to dust off the bed before sleeping

[Al-Bukhaari (6320) and Muslim (2714)]
Narrated by Abu Hurrairah:

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “When one of you goes to his bed, let him dust off his bed with the inside of his lower garment, for he does not know what came onto it after he left it. Then let him say: Bismika Rabbee wada’tu janbi wa bika arfa’uhu wa in amsakta nafsi farhamhaa wa in arsaltahaa fahfazhaa bimaa tuhfaz bihi ‘ibaadika al-saaliheen ( In Your name, my Lord, I lie down, and in Your name I rise. If you should take my soul then have mercy on it, and if You should return my soul then protect it as You protect Your righteous slaves).”

It's forbidden and not recommended to sleep on Stomach:

Ya’eesh ibn Tihfah al-Ghifaari reported that his father said:
“I stayed as a guest with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) with those of the poor whom he hosted. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came out in the night to check up on his guests, and saw me lying on my stomach. He prodded me with his foot and said, ‘Do not lie in this manner, for it is a way of lying that Allah hates.’” According to another report, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) prodded him with his foot and woke him up, and said, “Do not lie like this, for this is how the people of Hell lie.”
(Reported by Ahmad, al-Fath al-Rabbaani, 14/244-245; by al-Tirmidhi, no. 2798, Shaakir edn.; and by Abu Dawood, al-Sunan, Kitaab al-Adab, no. 5040, al-Da’aas edn. Also reported in Saheeh al-Jaami’, 2270-2271).

(Surah Al-‘Ahzab Ch:33 V:21)

“There has certainly been for you in the Messenger of Allah an excellent pattern for anyone whose hope is in Allah and the Last Day and [who] remembers Allah often.”

- In the present day science tells us that it’s best to sleep on the right side or back and not lying on the left side and stomach. Our beloved Prophet Muhammad  (Peace & Blessings be upon him) was aware of this back in his time. Beyond doubt he is the best example for us all to follow for all time. -
